
Jack, began his career in advertising as a graphic designer, his growing interest in photography and printing shaped his work, leading to a distinguished 40-year career as both a photographer and a director of television commercials.
Jack specialises in still-life photography using large-format techniques, latterly working on global on-location shoots, particularly of landscapes and automobiles. He seamlessly bridged the worlds of advertising and art, creating conceptual imagery that has become iconic. Notable examples include the groundbreaking Silk Cut cigarette campaign, which omitted the product itself, and the evocative John Player Special landscapes.
Jack’s award winning work can be found in his collaborations with prestigious international agencies such as CDP and Saatchi & Saatchi, producing campaigns for high-profile clients like Mercedes, and Jaguar. As a member of D&AD, he served as a judge and earned numerous British Advertising Awards for his work with VW, JPS, Chivas Regal, and Heineken.
Later in his career, Jack ventured into directing, creating memorable commercials for brands including Heinz, Ford, and Hovis. His contributions to advertising have been recognised by the V&A Museum, which houses several examples of his work in its historical archive.
Jack’s passion for black-and-white photography and years spent mastering the darkroom have culminated in a diverse personal collection, showcasing the depth and range of his unique artistic vision.
